Get an estimate for a Zimbabwean company
Twelve questions, about three minutes. At the end you get the vehicle Zimbabwean law allows you with the reason, a recommended bundle, our fee, the government fees as their own number, and the list of documents we need. It works the same whether you are a Zimbabwean living abroad, a foreign investor, or a company outside Zimbabwe opening a subsidiary. We confirm your timeline in writing before you pay.
What we ask
- Where do you live now? United Kingdom, South Africa, Australia, United Arab Emirates, Zambia, Botswana, United States, Canada, Somewhere else. This is about where you are, not about what passport you hold. It changes how documents are certified, how you pay us and when you can reach a person.
- Who will own the company? Zimbabwean citizens only, At least one owner is a foreign national, A company registered outside Zimbabwe, A mix of Zimbabwean and foreign owners. Ownership decides which extra requirements apply. It does not decide whether you are welcome: every answer below gets a price, except buying into a company that already exists, which needs a conversation first.
- What do you need? A new Private Limited Company, A new Private Business Corporation, A company, but I am not sure which kind, To re-register a dormant company, To buy into a company that already exists, I am already registered and need tax or NSSA.
- What will the company do? Professional or business services, Software, ICT or online services, Construction or engineering, Manufacturing, Mining or minerals, Tourism or hospitality, Health or education, Import and export, Agriculture or farming, Retail or wholesale trade, Transport or logistics, Something else. Some sectors carry ownership limits where an owner is not a Zimbabwean citizen. Where that might apply we say so in your estimate and confirm the position, rather than quoting you a price we may have to withdraw.
- How many owners, and where are they? A single owner, The owner plus family in Zimbabwe, Two or more owners, all outside Zimbabwe, Owners inside and outside Zimbabwe.
- Is there someone ordinarily resident in Zimbabwe who can be a director? Yes, I have someone, No, there is nobody, Possibly, I would have to ask them. A Private Limited Company must have at least one. A Private Business Corporation needs nobody resident at all.
- Do you have a Zimbabwe address for the registered office? Yes, an address I can use, No, I would need one. Any Zimbabwe address you can use counts. Foreign addresses on a filing slow it down, so we recommend a Zimbabwe address on every registration.
- Which of these do you need now? ZIMRA registration and Business Partner Number, Tax clearance certificate, NSSA employer registration, VAT registration, PRAZ vendor registration for tenders, Help opening a business bank account, Monthly bookkeeping and payroll, Data protection licence, Trademark registration, None of these yet. Choose as many as apply. Buying them with the registration is cheaper than coming back for them.
- Will you employ staff in Zimbabwe in the first year? Yes, No, Probably, later in the year.
- Will you sell to government or bid for tenders? Yes, that is the plan, Maybe, if the work comes up, No.
- What do you expect to invoice in the first year? Under US$25,000, US$25,000 to US$100,000, Over US$100,000, I genuinely do not know yet. VAT registration becomes compulsory above US$25,000 of taxable supplies in a twelve month period.
- When do you want to start? This month, In the next one to three months, I am researching for now.
What you get back
- A recommended vehicle. A Private Business Corporation needs nobody ordinarily resident in Zimbabwe. A Private Limited Company needs one resident director and a resident company secretary under section 198 of the Companies and Other Business Entities Act.
- Two numbers. Our fee, and the government fees at cost, never merged into one figure.
- A document list. Including what has to be certified where you live, which we confirm rather than guess.
- A price on the foreign owner route too. Where an owner is a foreign national, a company registered outside Zimbabwe, or a mix of the two, you get the same filing estimate plus the Zimbabwean company secretary a foreign-owned company must hold, plus a registered office where you have no Zimbabwe address. ZIDA registration assistance and any reserved-sector position are shown as notes carrying no figure, and neither is added to your total.
- A conversation instead of a price in exactly one case: a foreign owner buying into a Zimbabwean company that already exists, because exchange control approval can apply to that transaction.
